EKG Technician
EKG rhythms provide important data for the diagnosis of heart conditions. Certified EKG Technicians have the credentials to perform the critical tasks of administering EKGs, as well as Holter monitoring and stress testing.Ìý

A Patient Service RepresentativeÌý(also known asÌýCertifiedÌýMedical Administrative Assistant)Ìýis usually the first point of contact for patients or clients.ÌýPatient Service Representatives alsoÌýhelp coordinate patient visits and facilitate the smooth running of the office.ÌýÌýÌý

- Medical Office Reception –In this section, you will learn reception and clerical skills, scheduling, customer service, electronic health record navigation, OSHA and HIPPA regulations, and much more.ÌýÌý
- Medical Office Operations with Medical Terminology – Understanding medical business skills and the language of medicine are important requirements of a Medical Administrative Assistant.Ìý A part of this section of the class is dedicated to medical terminology.Ìý The second section teaches skills inÌýfinancial management, basic procedure and diagnostic coding, and law and ethics.ÌýÌýÌý

MedicationÌýAide
Medication Aides are trained to prepare for safe administration of medications to clients in assisted living facilities.Ìý
Certification
After successful completion of the Medication Aide course, students apply and pay the fee for registration as a Medication Aide to the Virginia Board of Nursing. The Board of Nursing will review the application and provide a letter to practice as a Provisional Medication Aide for 120 days. The Board of Nursing will provide a letter to practice as a Registered Medication Aide afterÌýthe student passesÌýthe written state certification exam.Ìý
About the Program
The course teaches basic pharmacology and the proper procedure for preparing, administering, maintaining,Ìýand documenting medications. Students are also taught to facilitate client self-administration and assist with medication administration. This course meets requirementsÌýofÌýand is approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing.ÌýÌý

Certified Nurse Aide
Nurse Aides provide high quality, compassionate care for hospital patients and residents in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and private homes.
Certification
Graduating students are eligible to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) exam required by the Virginia Board of Nursing. This course meets the Virginia Board of Nursing’s requirement for Nurse Aide Training in Virginia.
About the Program
A certified nursing aide is one of the most important roles in the healthcare team. The CNA program consists of classroom, skills lab, and 40 hours of clinical training.
The requirements included in this class are:
- Nurse Aide: Learn skills needed to work as a Nurse Aide in nursing homes, private homes, hospitals, and assisted living facilities.
- CPR and First Aid for the Healthcare Provider: Earn a two-year certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers CPR from the American Heart Association and a First Aid certification from the Emergency Care and Safety Institute (ECSI). Instruction includes adult, child, and infant CPR; 2-rescuer CPR; use of AED; and first aid. The course fee includes disposable training supplies, a First Aid guidebook, and two certification cards. This course meets the regulatory requirements of the Virginia Department of Health, JCAHO, Virginia Office of EMS, OSHA, and Virginia Department of Social Services.

Patient Care Technician Bridge
Patient care technicians assist with the critical day-to-day care of patients. In addition to basic care, skills taught include drawing blood, point-of-care testing, EKGs, and wound care.Ìý

Course includes preparation for the Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) Exam through National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). This exam is administered at an off-site testing facility. Once national certification is obtained, you can apply for a Virginia Board of Pharmacy state license.Ìý
About the Program
The Pharmacy Technician program is a dynamic and engaging educational experience designed to prepare aspiring pharmacy technicians with the knowledge, skills,Ìýand hands-on training necessary for success as a pharmacy technician. This program combines rigorous coursework with practical, real-world application to prepare students for a rewarding career in pharmacy. Expect to spend 10-20 hours on coursework per week.
